K-5 Program
Our curriculum is built upon high-quality instructional materials from leading publishers approved by the State of California. These resources provide students with a comprehensive scope and sequence aligned with California Content Standards while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. Thematic units and meaningful hands-on experiences help students make real-world connections and deepen their understanding of key concepts.
Strong communication skills are a priority throughout all grade levels, with an emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. In our primary grades (K–2), phonemic awareness and foundational literacy skills are emphasized as essential components of learning to read. All subjects are taught from a Christian perspective and are intentionally integrated with Biblical truths and principles, helping students develop both academically and spiritually.
Instruction encourages exploration, collaboration, creativity, and the practical application of knowledge to everyday life. In addition to the core subjects of Math, History/Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts, students participate in a variety of specialty programs that enrich their educational experience:
Physical Education (P.E.)
Physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and good sportsmanship are emphasized through age-appropriate activities and group games. Students in Grades 1–8 participate in the Presidential Physical Fitness Program.
Music
Music is an important part of our curriculum. Students develop music appreciation, theory, vocal skills, and performance confidence through engaging instruction. Opportunities to perform are provided through chapel services and special school events. Middle School students may also choose specialty music classes as elective courses.
Visual and Performing Arts
Students explore creativity and self-expression through visual arts, theatre, drama, dance, and movement. Through hands-on projects and performances, students develop artistic skills, confidence, and an appreciation for the arts. In addition, students participate in monthly art experiences that expose them to a variety of artistic techniques, styles, and mediums.
Spanish
Students are introduced to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures through interactive lessons that build vocabulary, conversational skills, listening comprehension, and cultural awareness. Spanish instruction helps students develop confidence in communicating in a second language while broadening their global perspective.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Our STEM program encourages innovation, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking through hands-on projects and collaborative learning experiences. Students engage in age-appropriate activities that foster curiosity and prepare them for future academic and career opportunities in an ever-changing world.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
Social-emotional learning is woven throughout the school experience, helping students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, empathy, responsible decision-making, and a strong sense of character rooted in Christian values.
Learning Garden
Through our garden program, students experience hands-on learning that connects science, stewardship, nutrition, and God's creation. Students learn about plant life cycles, environmental responsibility, and healthy living while cultivating a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
