Matthew Smith deserves to be teacher of the year because of his heart or his family for people or at the school and Community he loves and cares for every child in his classroom as if they were his own and he doesn't just say that he does that each and every day and I think of the parent you really want your kids to go to school and develop a love for Learning and I think my stuff with a really really does that I've known it since my wife and I got married and since we first decided to start a family that I didn't want to ever have regrets with not spending enough time with the kids not being around them getting out of real estate and getting out of the job that was all-consuming the 80-hour week and we talked about it so he decided he was going to take a couple years off and get his teaching credential and they ended up shirt Red Hill Lutheran who come into education from a different career I think are extremely valuable because they have real-world experience that they might use later in their life what is the New York Stock Exchange what is it look like what is Wall Street look like when I was teaching middle school math it was the traditional way the teachers up here were open your math books to page 56 complete numbers 1 through 20 and she came and she truly turned world of middle school math upside down in the best of wave show the kids that mask transcend to Four Walls of the classroom it's a little clearer than the last one. I love math and I my goal is is to you know to Foster in my kids a lot of math and then all of us in our kind of problem solving and almost thinking through different areas of your life as you know what information do I have do I have and what do I need to be not going to solve this problem so we're trying to get out of this little area just so creative and Innovative and guess things like the Barbie bungee jump or the kids are Barbie's over our balcony over here the Barbie vintage am definitely stands out a lot it's some predicting how far it would jump with him out of rubber bands and using algebra to figure that out and then we would go outside intestines do for crafts if there's to be a teacher of the year because he is such an open and splendiferous feature download you take some of this year's teachers real world real world experiences like learn all of these amazing things whether it's math or like coding in my robotics class or how to filter water he's been a teacher my whole life he is a very understanding teacher he's really gentle with kids and she makes deep connections with students he's a game-changer he's literally changing kids one day at a time and it's because of that heart that he has as a Christian educator I know he'll attend things outside of school just to show the students that I really care about you as a person he's taking a group of kids in the flight in space class on a Saturday from 8 to noon and each of the kids in his class is going to get to go up in a private plane yeah that's cool alright kitchen is may be the least important thing that you do I'm good at building relationships and I feel like. This this is a perfect job for. Connect the kids got the important thing and then we'll follow it has been a very big part of my development as a person and as a man and hopefully I can be somewhat like him I grew up definitely like a calling for him he the students here he loves his co-workers he feels like he's really doing what he's supposed to be doing cuz I'm really proud of you I feel like you're one of the only people that can do it's never something that you can get into for the accolades are for the hard one because it's such an awesome powerful Journey you're not going to love every minute of it it's it's a lot of work but the Fulfillment that I get from it is more than I could have ever dreamed of I think that I would tell myself that that you're not ever going to regret this decision that you made how to get please good
