Jon Ornelas

Jon Ornelas brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role as the 7th–8th Grade STEM and Industrial Arts teacher at Red Hill Lutheran School. Originally from Costa Rica, he is bilingual in Spanish and later returned there as an educator, further deepening his love for teaching and mentorship.

With a wide variety of skills and work experience—including welding, machining, mechanics, and mentoring—he thrives on building and creating with his hands. He is eager to share these trades and talents with students, teaching them practical skills while inspiring confidence and creativity. His goal is to help every student recognize their full potential, not only in academics but also in the many ways God has gifted them beyond the classroom.

Family is especially important to him, and his dedication to community is also seen in his involvement at RHLS, where he has coached our street hockey teams and built close connections with colleagues, including his good friend, Sara Bridgman. His commitment, creativity, and heart for students make him an incredible asset to our school family.

Persist

A habit that I believe has strengthened me is Creating, Imagining and Innovating. I love to see the students try new things and help them overcome their fears.
