School Learning Garden

The RHLS Learning Garden

The Red Hill Lutheran Learning Garden is a special outdoor classroom where students connect with God’s creation through hands-on learning. The garden allows children to explore science, nature, and healthy living in a fun and engaging way. From planting seeds and observing plant growth to harvesting vegetables and enjoying nature-inspired crafts, students gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The garden is designed to nurture curiosity, responsibility, and teamwork, while also providing a peaceful place to reflect on God’s goodness. Each visit to the garden reinforces classroom lessons and helps students appreciate the beauty and wonder of creation.

Join the RHLS Learning Garden Team! No gardening experience required!
There are many ways to get involved, and we can work with your interests and schedule. Whether you love teaching, crafting, or simply enjoy being outdoors, there’s a place for you in the garden.

Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Lead and teach lessons – even for an entire grade level if you’d like!

  • Tend to garden beds – care for our garden outside of class visits, on a schedule that works best for you.

  • Plan and lead crafts – bring your creativity to life by designing and teaching fun garden-related crafts.

Time Commitment

Your time can be as little or as much as you’d like—we’re flexible and will do our best to fit volunteering into your schedule. All we ask is that those who commit follow through so our students can count on consistent garden time.

Reaching out doesn’t mean you’re locked in—we’d be happy to answer questions and see if there’s a role that’s a good fit. We also welcome grandparents and extended family members to join the fun!
