Class Act Family Night Concert, Monday March 12 at 6:30pm

We are excited to host the Pacific Symphony-Class Act Family Night on Monday, March 12. This will be our second year hosting this event, and this year we will provide a 'pre-concert' event featuring our new RHLS String Orchestra (18 members), under the direction of Ben Hunter.

You and your family and friends are invited to join us at the upcoming Pacific Symphony – Class Act string quintet concert on Monday, March 12th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in our church sanctuary.

Founded in 1994, the Frieda Belinfante Class Act Partnership is Pacific Symphony’s flagship youth education program.  Individual Symphony musicians are placed in year-long residencies at up to 32 K-8 partner schools throughout Orange County.  These talented Teaching Artists work with over 18,000 students each year, sharing the life and music of a Composer of the Year through standards-based music curriculum.  Class Act serves as an entry point to other Symphony activities for students, parents, and teachers, encouraging participants to further explore their interest in music with Pacific Symphony.

Pacific Symphony is the largest U.S. symphony orchestra to be formed in the last 40 years and the third largest in California.  Pacific Symphony is the resident orchestra of Orange County, making its home at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.  The orchestra’s core purpose is to enrich the human spirit through superior performances of symphonic music and community engagement.

Class Act schools are selected through a competitive application process. Each year students form a relationship with a new Class Act teaching artist (a Pacific Symphony musician) through activities including classroom lessons, ensemble performances, assemblies, and concerts.  Class Act celebrates its 23rd season in 2017-2018, with the music of Ludwig van Beethoven and the theme, “Trials to Triumph!”

The concert will featuring music by Beethoven and other musical masters, performed by a string quintet from Orange County’s Pacific Symphony.  The string quintet will be led by Nancy Coade Eldridge, first violin section of the Pacific Symphony, our schools assigned musician as part of the Frieda Belinfante Class Act Program.
