K-8 After School Enrichment Class Information

We are pleased to offer Kindergarten - 8th grade after school enrichment classes.
1st Session: Tuesday, September 7th for 6 weeks. Last Day Thursday 10/21. NO Class on Oct 18, 19 or 20 as we prepare for Session 2.
2nd Session: Thursday October 21 - Thursday December 9 (7 weeks). 
Limited spaces available.

Imagination Station

Mrs. Martinez

You and your friends will have a great time using your imaginations to role play.  Mrs. Martinez will help you set up the Pet Store or Home Corner - or you can sell things at The Store.  A variety of props will be provided - and there will be plenty of play dough to go around!

Soccer

Mr. Berhane

Get ready for fun while learning how to play soccer.  You will gain skills, learn about good sportsmanship and cheer each other on.  We will do our best and help our friends to do the same.  Soccer is a game of teamwork and Mr. Berhane will make sure everyone gets a chance to play.

Chess Club

Mr. Garrett

Learn the basic moves of chess and a number of strategies in the RHLS Chess Club.  From beginners to advanced players, Mr. Garrett, who was on our summer staff team, is a chess champion in his own rights and is eager to pass along his love for the game.

Marvelous Mysteries

Mrs. Tarkoff

Students will explore a variety of reading and writing activities focused on the mystery genre. Modes of writing include poetry, character sketches, descriptive writing, narrative, and argumentative writing. Activities will appeal to a variety of learning styles using videos, hands-on activities, music, movement, and problem solving. Targeted lessons focus on the following: Mystery genre study, figurative language, sensory detail, setting, conflict, plot, characterization, and showing-not telling. Students will also expand their critical thinking skills, inference making, and speaking skills.

Hands on Art Exploration Mrs. Lee (RHLS Parent and artist)
Join us for fun activities and step by step drawing every week! Students will explore various materials such as collage, watercolor, color pencils, markers, oil pastels and more. Students will learn how to draw their favorite characters or animals and they will also explore creative drawings inspired by famous artists' styles. Drawing every week will help your child with building artistic confidence and skill!

Creative & Realistic Drawing

This class is for students who love to draw and want to improve their drawing skills and attention to detail. These skills will help students draw realistically. We will work with artist's materials like oil pastels, charcoal, graphite, color pencils, and watercolor. Students will learn about line, composition, structure, proportion, shading, cross-hatching, light and shadow and more. Students will work on still life images, characters, and creative drawings.
