The purpose of
the Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF) is to provide assistance to the
School Board, Principal and school staff in carrying out the policies,
programs and projects of the school.
Every Red Hill Lutheran School parent is automatically a member
of the PTF. All parents are encouraged
to attend the monthly PTF meetings generally held on the 3rd Thursday
of each month (September
through May) at 3:15 p.m. at RHLS. One hour toward
each family’s P.R.I.D.E. hour requirement can be earned by
attending a meeting. Day care for Red Hill students is provided
free of charge for the duration of the meeting.
The PTF helps promote open communication between parents and teachers
and encourages both parties to work together to ensure a successful
classroom and school experience for the students of our school.
The PTF organizes Room Parents to assist teachers with classroom
projects, parties or other areas as needed.
The PTF organizes fund-raising activities as approved by the School
Board and Church Council to supplement school funds for needs such
as field trip transportation, special on-campus needs, facility/playground
improvements and classroom technology and equipment.
MOMS IN TOUCH Contact: Mrs. Naomi Minogue
All parents are welcome to join together in prayer for our students,
families, teachers, staff and school. Moms in Touch meets on the
2nd Friday of the month from 1:45-2:45 p.m. in the Church Library.
P.R.I.D.E HOUR PROGRAM Contact: Mrs. Kirsten Frosh
All Red Hill Lutheran School families are required to participate
in the P.R.I.D.E. hour program. Parents or legal guardians of
full-time students are required to serve ten hours per family.
Parents or guardians of part-time students are required to serve
five hours per family. Service hours not completed by June 6,
2008 will be billed at a rate of $25.00 per hour. The PTF P.R.I.D.E.
coordinator and Treasurer coordinate the program and maintain
all the records, billing and bookkeeping. Persons donating service
hours will be responsible for filling out their P.R.I.D.E hour
slips and turning them in directly to the individual teacher,
school office or P.R.I.D.E hour coordinator.
ROOM PARENTS Mrs. Naomi Minogue
Room Parents are vital in ensuring parental involvement and support
of our school activities. The teachers rely on room parents to
help coordinate classroom and school-sponsored events. NO EXPERIENCE
IS NECESSARY and our children LOVE having their parents involved
in school and classroom activities. Room Parents will be offered
guidance and assistance as needed by the PTF Officers.
WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL:
FUNDRAISERS: There are several fundraisers throughout the school
year. Profits from these fundraisers fund the budget for the majority
of the PTF-sponsored activities and supplement school funds for
field trip transportation, facility and playground improvements,
technology and other school events.
MONTHLY FAMILY NIGHTS: Each month families and friends of Red Hill
students are invited to dine at a specific restaurant which agrees
to donate a percentage of the total food bill to our school. PTF
also sponsors family-oriented events such as, Mighty Ducks hockey
game, Santa Train in Irvine Park, bowling at Tustin Lanes and Barnes
and Noble Bookstore. Proceeds from these events benefit a variety
of designated school programs.
SCRIP/GROCERY CARDS: Gift cards for participating stores and restaurants
are available for purchase in the school office. A percentage of
each sale is refunded directly to our school. Order forms are available
in the school office. Be sure and register your Albertson’s,
Von’s and Ralph’s grocery cards with our SCRIP program.
Every purchase you make is refunded back to our school. See the
SCRIP order form for more details.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: Box Tops are accepted on a daily basis
and turned in for a refund check bi-annually. Check your specially
marked grocery items for the Box Top labels, cut them out and send
them to school with your child.

Room Parent responsibilities:
ROOM PARENT AND PTF MEETINGS: Room Parents must attend all monthly
Room Parent and PTF Meetings. The PTF meetings are held at 3:15
p.m. in the Fellowship Hall on the third Thursday of each month.
The Room Parent Meetings are held on the first Friday of the month
at 8:35 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
COORDINATING EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES: Room Parents work closely with
the classroom teacher and assist with the coordination of classroom
needs and activities. Room Parents are responsible for maintaining
regular contact with the teacher to determine classroom needs or
scheduling other classroom parents to help.
SCHEDULING VOLUNTEERS: Room Parents are responsible for scheduling
volunteers for the following school events: Western BBQ, Christmas
Shopping Club, Book Fair, Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week Luncheon,
Class Parties, Field Trips, Kindergarten and Eighth Promotion and
End of the Year Carnival.
AUCTION/RAFFLE BASKET: Room Parents are responsible for selecting
a “theme” and collecting donations for their class’s
basket for our school auction/raffle. The theme should be selected,
approved and announced to parents in September at Back-To-School
Night.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT: Room Parents are asked to introduce themselves
at both parent sessions. The five to ten minute introduction should
include information about school and classroom events that require
parental support and involvement. This is a great opportunity to
introduce the Room Parent and information about future activities
as well as begin scheduling volunteers and creating strong parental
involvement.
